The Fitchburg Art Museum is located in the downtown area of Fitchburg, MA. It was founded in 1925 through a bequest of the artist, collector, and educator Eleanor Norcross. Exhibitions are drawn from both its own collections (paintings, sculpture, prints, drawings, and decorative arts from the Colonial Period to the present, photography, African art, and ancient Egyptian art) and special loans which primarily focus on regional contemporary art. Important artists represented in the collection include John James Audubon, Thomas Hart Benton, Mary Cassatt, John Singleton Copley, Thomas Eakins, Georgia O'Keeffe, John Singer Sargent, Charles Sheeler, Joseph Stella, and William Zorach.

In 2013, FAM embarked upon an initiative to become New England's first fully bilingual (English/Spanish) art museum.
